Datto

Eric Torres and William Speirs will be on hand to share with us How The Most Successful MSPs Are Positioning Continuity And Winning Business.

Stop selling backup based on natural disasters, and start positioning Business Continuity as a Total Data Protection Platform against downtime. The disaster itself is irrelevant, whether it’s a fire, flood, power outage, or human error. What’s important is that every minute a business is down, they’re losing money. The average SMB will suffer from 17.82 hours of downtime per year. Innovative technology at the enterprise level is brought to the SMB market with concepts and proprietary technology providing the most reliable solutions to ending your customers’ downtime.

Eric Torres, Channel Development Manager, Datto – Eric Torres joined Datto, Inc. as Channel Development Manager in March of 2015. Prior to joining, he ran the Datto sales, operations, and business practices for a successful managed service provider out of Milwaukee, WI. During his time there, he helped grow the company from a 10 person operation to the 65 person organization that it is today. Eric was also a member of the Datto Advisory Board and had given peer to peer presentations at many industry events, sharing his knowledge and expertise on business continuity. Recently named to CRN Magazine’s “100 People You Don’t Know, But Should” list, Eric brings his passion for business continuity and the managed service provider community to this role, and focuses on supporting the Datto Partner Community in growing their business.

William Speirs, Senior Director of Datto Labs, Datto – William Speirs joined Datto in 2016 and works as the Senior Director of Datto Labs. Datto Labs is the R&D department at Datto, responsible for inventing new products and finding ways to improve the efficiency of the existing infrastructure. William has his PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University, and a BS in Computer Science and Information Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Technology Wizards Board Elections

We will be following Datto’s presentation at our meeting on Wednesday with our annual Board Elections (which were postponed from December and then January due to the cancelation of our December and January Members Meeting due to inclement weather.)  We will be electing the 5 members who will serve on the Board for the remainder of 2017.  Only current members present in the room will be allowed to participate in the elections.

According to our Bylaws, annually the membership selects the 5 people who will serve on the Board from Jan – Dec.  At the January Board Meeting (which will follow our Members Meeting), the 5 people elected then hold an election (Wednesday, after our regular meeting) to determine what positions within the Board they will each fill for the year.  Our Bylaws further stipulate that the President must have served on the Board the previous year.

NOTE: Lunch will be provided by Datto (for those who show up early enough to get one) – Please be sure to thank them.

Looking forward to your active participation in our meeting!
