July 13th Meeting ~ Website Security and O365 for Technology Wizards

Our next Technology Wizards meeting will be Wednesday, July 13th, 12:00pm – 3:00pm at the Microsoft PacWest office located at 1414 Northrup (in the Pearl district).

Website Security and Development

At recent meetings we’ve had some discussion about websites and their security.  Rusty Lee (CallMyPCDr.com) will lead a session with more technical details about website security, recent security events, and things we need to watch out for.  We’ll also review how that has affected the Technology Wizards website; changes we have and will be making.  Some of the topics Rusty will cover include:

  • Statistics for recent website malware attacks
  • Recent bot net discovered using CCTV cameras
  • WordPress versus other CMS programs
  • Hosting considerations
  • Tools to prevent and clear up security issues

Office 365 for Technology Wizards

Ken plans to update our members on the Office 365 progress and challenges, including your account info and migration from Groove/SharePoint Workspace to SharePoint in Office 365.

Membership Reminder

Just a reminder that July begins a new Membership Year for Technology Wizards.  To take advantage of the discount for renewing your membership, make sure to turn in your completed and signed application along with your check by the end of the meeting (Wednesday, July 13th).  You can download the latest Membership Application here (Located on Membership tab of Technology Wizards website):

PARKING: There are a couple of lots between NW 15th & NW 16th and NW Johnson & NW Kearney or NW Kearney & NW Lovejoy with the entrance to either lot on Kearney Street (located under I-405), a parking garage located above the Safeway on 14th between Lovejoy and Marshall of or any other public parking facility nearby.  There is a fee to park.  Plan to arrive early to find parking as it has really been filling up lately.
