March 9th Meeting ~ SonicWALL by Todd Koopman & Jeff Thompson

Our next Technology Wizards meeting will be Wednesday, March 9th, 3:00pm – 6:00pm at the Microsoft PacWest office located at 1414 Northrup (in the Pearl district).

Note Time change – Meeting begins at 3:00pm

Come learn the latest about the Dell SonicWALL security solutions.  The internet threat environment is constantly changing.  Ransomware is rampant.  User traffic patterns are changing.  Available bandwidth is increasing.  Does your customer have the right firewall?  Will the firewall you sold them yesterday meet their needs tomorrow?  Dell SonicWALL has an answer.  You can deliver enterprise security features to your SMB customers using our Security as a Service program.  Change Capex to Opex and your customer will always have the right firewall for their needs.

The FWaaS program aligns service provider recurring revenue with a recurring expense model allowing you to grow your business more effectively.  All of the necessary product components are bundled into a convenient and attractive monthly subscription price with no upfront investment required.

What is included in SECaaS?

The new Security-as-a-Service offering creates a powerful, single security solution consisting of the following three products:

  • Comprehensive Gateway Security – all-in-one network protection that combines gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware intrusion prevention, application intelligence and control, content filtering, firmware updates and 24X7 support onto a high-performance deep packet inspection firewall.
  • Dell SonicWALL firewall is a powerful Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliance that enables all of these services. Each appliance bundles all hardware and services needed for comprehensive UTM network protection from a wide range of emerging network threats.
  • The Global Management System (GMS) provides Service Providers with a powerful and intuitive solution to centrally manage and rapidly deploy Dell SonicWALL firewall, antispam, backup and recovery, and secure remote access solutions.

Don’t worry, there will be lots of technical content too.  Jeff Thompson, Dell SonicWALL security systems engineer, will provide an update on the product lineup, show you how to decrypt user-initiated SSL traffic for inspection, and teach you how to correctly select the right firewall for your client’s network.

Todd Koopman – Territory Account Manager

Todd started at SonicWALL in 1999 and has been in the security space for 17 years.  Todd has been a sales engineer, product manager, and channel account manager.  Todd is here to help you be successful with your clients.

Jeff Thompson – Systems Engineer

Jeff joined Dell SonicWALL in late 2014.  His background is Cisco.  Until he logged into a SonicWALL the first time and changed his mind!

Lunch will be provided for the first few minutes of the meeting, so get there early!

PARKING: There are a couple of lots between NW 15th & NW 16th and NW Johnson & NW Kearney or NW Kearney & NW Lovejoy with the entrance to either lot on Kearney Street (located under I-405), a parking garage located above the Safeway on 14th between Lovejoy and Marshall of or any other public parking facility nearby.  There is a fee to park.  Plan to arrive early to find parking as it has really been filling up lately.
