Technology Wizards the Future Through the Past – Part 2
The IT industry, both its technologies and its practices, is always changing and evolving, and right now the pace seems even more rapid than ever. This month we’re going to continue visiting some topics that have come up recently at Technology Wizards meetings and in our mailing list. Picking up where we left off in August, things will be a mix of presentation and discussion. Some will probably be fairly short, some longer, it all depends on where we go. Some of things we’re planning on discussing are:
What Will Your IT Business Look Like When It Grows Up? Most of us struggle to find quality time where we can “Work On The Business”. Sometimes it’s helpful to look back at what our plans were when we first started. How have things changed since then? Is the business meeting our personal objectives? We don’t want to dwell in the past — but once we identify where things aren’t quite right, then we can work to make the necessary changes. After all, If the business isn’t providing what we need — then we should be doing something different. If you aren’t having fun, then you’re doing it wrong!!
Two Factor Authentication and Password Management. They seem like two well established market niches, but they are increasingly interrelated, and there’s been a lot of churn lately. Companies have been bought, there have been confusing or superficial reports of breaches or vulnerabilities. At least one well known 2FA technology seems on the way out. How is this going to affect us and our clients?
Marketing Your IT Business — What works — What Doesn’t? Marketing is a critical part of what’s needed to maintain and grow any business. It’s one of those “Working On The Business” items that doesn’t get much or enough attention. What are you doing to market and grow your business? What works or has worked for you? What doesn’t work to market an IT Business. One of the greatest benefits to Technology Wizards membership is learning from others who have: “Been There – Done That”. Let’s help each other out with ideas to market our businesses.
Bring your questions and ideas related to these topics, as well as anything else you’ve been thinking about lately. We can’t address everything, but we’ll certainly have plenty to go over.
PARKING: There are a couple of lots between NW 15th & NW 16th and NW Johnson & NW Kearney or NW Kearney & NW Lovejoy with the entrance to either lot on Kearney Street (located under I-405), a parking garage located above the Safeway on 14th between Lovejoy and Marshall of or any other public parking facility nearby. There is a fee to park. Plan to arrive early to find parking as it has really been filling up lately.
I’m really looking forward to seeing you all and to your active participation!
